The GST threshold limit in India defines the annual turnover beyond which businesses are mandated to register for GST. It depends on two factors:
1. Type of Business:
- Goods: For businesses dealing in goods, the threshold limit is Rs. 40 lakhs for most states and Union Territories. However, for some special category states (Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim) and Puducherry, the limit is Rs. 20 lakhs.
- Services: For service providers, the threshold remains at Rs. 20 lakhs for normal states and Rs. 10 lakhs for special category states.
2. Location:
- Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Assam (though special category states) follow the Rs. 40 lakhs threshold limit for both goods and services.
- The Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (DNHDD) has a unique Rs. 10 lakhs threshold for both goods and services.
